The Design Squiggle

In a bid to convince a client of the value of the design process in less than thirty seconds, Damien Newman developed The Design Squiggle.

Personally, I think, The Design Squiggle captures the messiness and complexity of the start of a design project perfectly, the trial and error, the back and forth, the anxiety of thinking you’ll never get to that straight line, and the pressure of coming up with workable ideas in the time you’ve promised your client – they absolutely will not wait forever. Apparently... 😏

Design isn’t a perfect science, there is no step-by-step formula, yes there are processes, but with so many variables between projects, processes should be seen as more of a guide to get you back on track if you get lost in the squiggles.

But when you get to that straight line… my god, it’s kinda magical.
